General:Date of Release: 8th March 1988 Model Nr: BF-107 Starring:
Game-Play:There are 2 formats of Balloon Fight (BF-107). This is more common than its sister (BF-803). Needless to say you control Balloon Man and the object is to collect balloons. Sounds easy enough if it wasn't for the fact that you have to control him by using an eject button to keep him from crashing into the sea. You also steer him left or right. You also have to watch out for the Sparks that are scattered around the screen. If you land on a blinking floor and press the warp button you will be warped to a bonus level. Once you have collected more than 25 balloons you will proceed to the next phase. Boss phase that appears at every 8 phases is a timer game where you have to capture Oiram Repus, the boss of the sky pirate. You do this by avoiding getting hit by the sparks that he throws. Every time you miss you loose 100 points and if you have less than that the game will end. Game differences:There is no Game B. Trivia:Maximum score is 999. Cheats and tricks:If you continue to fly without warping into the bonus round, you will automatically go into the next phase. In the Bonus phase, you have a limited time to collect as many balloons as you can to increase your score. If the game is started while pressing down on the EJECT button, then pressing and releasing the Game key, it can be started from phase 17. Points:For each balloon collected, one point is added. Also when the boss phase is cleared, points will be added. When balloons are collected consecutively without letting any balloon go by the score is: 20-39 balloons scores 2 points each, 40-59 balloons scores 3 points each and over 60 balloons, score 4 points each. Misses:When Balloon Man hits against the sparks (you can't go through them) or falls into the sea a miss is recorded. When your score is below 100 and you score a miss, the game ends. Note that only the sub-points in that phase will be deducted. Other notices:If you hold in the Game key the highest previous score will be displayed. If the unit is left as it is after game is over, time display will appear in about five minutes. A game is not interrupted even if TIME key or other game keys are depressed during game playing. Pressing ACL switch or removing batteries erases high score from memory.
Issue Differences (click to enlarge pictures)The table will show how to tell the different Issues that were made:
The battery covers seem to have a number on the back, but they seem to vary a lot and I won't even speculate what the difference is.
