General:Date of Release: 4th October 1980
Model Nr: IP-05 Game-Play:The object is to hit the other guy if your number is higher than his or avoid him if your number is lower. The fastest gets the scores if correct. If both numbers are equal then the one who hits first wins and the one who dodges first looses. Game differences:In Game A you play against a computer (you control the right fighter) and in Game B you play against an opponent. Trivia:Cedric came up with some information about why Nintendo made two different versions of Judge. After the Green (First) issue was launched Nintendo discovered a problem with the game. They found out that in the 2 player mode the Left player had an advantage. If the Left player made a mistake and moved out of the way (even though having the higher number) the Right player would get 1 point, but if the Right player made a mistake and moved out of the way (even though having the higher number) the Left player got 2 points. Nintendo corrected the fault and by issuing a new game with a different colour so they could differentiate between the faulty (Green) and the correct (Purple) versions. They must have found the fault before exporting the game overseas, because the Green issue was only sold in Japan. Highest possible score is 99. Cheats and tricks:The computer's operation time (speed) can be estimated by the intervals of counting and time signal sounds. The time from lifting up the placard to the operation by the computer varies in 8 steps, from 0.263 to 0.631 seconds. Points:The player (or computer) gets 3 points when he hits the opponent, and 2 points when he successfully dodges. The computer ALSO gets 1 point when the player dodges with the same numbers, 2 points when the player dodges by mistake and 5 points when the player hits his opponent by mistake. Note: In the 2-player game when a mistake in button operation can give extra points to the opponent is for example when the small-number fighter hits the opponent by mistake and then subsequently is hit. 2 points for the mistake and then 3 points for the hit (5 points in total) are given to the opponent. The first player (or computer ) to reach 99 is the winner. Misses:See points above. Other notices:If you hold in the Game A (doesn't work with Game B) key the best result of the player against the computer will be displayed (0 being the best and 99 being the worst). If the unit is left as it is after game is over, time display will appear in about five minutes. A game is interrupted if TIME key or other game keys are depressed during game playing. Pressing ACL switch or removing batteries erases high score from memory.
Issue Differences (click to enlarge pictures)The table will show how to tell the different Issues that were made:
The battery covers seem to have a number on the back, but they seem to vary a lot and I won't even speculate what the difference is.
